MRS. CORNIE DILLON

Cornie Hermans Grinnell, daughter of Ezra Hoyt Grinnell and Sarah Hermans Grinnell was born at Grinnell, April 23rd, 1858 and passed away in Des Moines on Saturday May 14th at the age of ninety-seven years and twenty one days after one year of failing strength.

She was married to Arthur H. Dillon in 1877. She was the mother of seven children and fifteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Three daughters preceded her in death. One, Amy Grinnell Murphy recently and two during the flu epidemic. Also two half sisters Minnie Grinnell Barnes and Kate Grinnell Lanphere, and a brother Frank killed in an accident on the railroad.

She leaves to mourn her death, two daughters, Mrs. Abbie Dillon Bleamaster of Corvallis, Oregon and Mrs. Emma Keith of Indianapolis, Indiana and two sons, Sydney J. Dillon of Des Moines and Arthur H. Dillon of Rock Island, Illinois.

She made her home in Dakota, Omaha and Council Bluffs and after the death of her husband in 1915, she made her home with her children, living in Michigan, Virginia, Indiana and New York with a visit to Oregon and Perry, Iowa, Rock Island and Des Moines.

Wherever she went she was always working, kind, cheerful and greatly beloved by her family, relatives and friends.

Her children rise up to bless her name.

She comes home to Grinnell to rest her tired body while her sweet spirit goes on to join the host of loved ones gone before.

Funeral services were held Tuesday with burial at Hazelwood cemetery at Grinnell.
