DONALD E. SKYBERG

Donald E. Skyberg, 66, of Malcom died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at his home under the care of Iowa Hospice.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with the Rev. Thomas Dowling officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

He was born Dec. 5, 1943, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the son of Oliver and Julia Jensen Skyberg. He graduated from Luverne High School in Luverne, Minn. He served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage with Patricia Fredricks on July 24, 1965, in Luverne, Minn.

He had been employed as a maintenance engineer with Tama Packing Co. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama where he had served on its board of trustees, church council, gospel group and as a confirmation instructor. He also was a member of the National Hot Rod Association.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Skybert of Malcom; his son and daughter, Gene Skyberg of Tama and Judy Skyberg-Skala of Toledo; ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter; his sisters and brothers, Eunice Wynn of Mounds View, Minn.; Edith Else of Alexandria, Minn.; David Skyberg of Fargo, N.D.; James Skyberg of Dell Rapids, S.D.; Steven Skyberg of Dilworth, Minn.; Dale Skyberg of Casper, Wyo.; Donna O'Donnell of Ellsworth, Minn.; Janis Otterson of LeMars, Iowa; Greg Skyberg of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; and Kent Skyberg of Sioux Falls, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Georgia Hagedorn; one granddaughter; his twin sister, Delores Walters and his brother, Robert Skyberg.
