JOAN GRIMM
Joan Maxine Grimm was born Feb. 27, 1933 in Sigourney, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Isabel Clark Clubb. She grew up around Sigourney.
Joan married LaVern Roy (Bud) Grimm Jan. 6, 1950, at the Pleasant Grove Brethren Church near North English. They made their home in Thornburg before moving to Millersburg in 1962.
Joan worked as a farm wife and school bus driver. She and Bud owned and operated the Dew Drop Inn in Millersburg for several years. She later worked 12 years in housekeeping at the University Hospitals, retiring in 1995.
Joan was a member of Millersburg Methodist Church. She was a loving and caring mother, a care-giver for many years to her parents and father-in-law, an avid sports fan, and was well known for her cooking skills.
Bud preceded her in death in July, 2003. In August, 2008, she moved to her daughter's home near What Cheer. She died at University Hospital, Iowa City following an auto accident Monday, March 22.
She is survived by daughters Sharon (Roger) Hopwood of Guernsey; Diane (Steve) Shaffer of Deep River; Amy (Leroy) Leer of What Cheer; a son Clifford Grimm of Millersburg; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a brother Larry Clubb of South English; sisters Peggy Derby of Richland and Doris Owins of DeWitt. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Rodney, Russell, Roger, Gordon and Forest Clubb, and sisters Allegra Cooney and Margaret Teeter.
Services were March 26 at the Millersburg Methodist Church with Pastor Ben Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Millersburg Cemetery.
