JACK DRAFAHL
Jack Drafahl, 85, of Montezuma, died March 27, 2011, at Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1, at the First Presbyterian Church, 303 East Washington Street, in Montezuma.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Grinnell.
Jack was born on Aug. 9, 1935, in Benton, Iowa. He was employed as a sheriff deputy in Montezuma along with working at the lumber yard, Bowers Construction and also did some farming. His passion was gardening, and he enjoyed stamp collecting. He was also instrumental in creating Scout Land at Lake Ponderosa as leader of the explorers.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly; sons, Jack Drafahl Jr., Stephen Drafahl, Guy Drafahl, Mark Drafahl and Matthew Drafahl; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, George Winterowd and two sisters, Mary McFarland and Mae Greene.
