The Grinnell (IA) Herald; Sept. 28, 1914MRS. GEORGE P. KELLY
Mary Edna Carter was born May 4, 1887, at Piney Creek, North Carolina, the eldest child of C.E. Carter and wife. With her parents she came to Grinnell in 1901, where she attended the public schools of this city. While here she united with the M.E. church, and was active in the Young People's work of the church. On May 22, 1907, she was united in marriage to George P. Kelly, and since then has attended the church of which her husband is a member. Three children came to gladden this home: Charles, now aged 5, Marcella, aged 2, and an infant son now two weeks old. After a short but severe illness, death called this faithful wife and mother a few minutes after 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 23. Besides her husband and three children, she leaves to mourn her loss her parents, a sister, six brothers, and a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral which was largely attended, was held in the Catholic church last Friday, Rev. Father M.J. Hannon officating.
