MRS. MERRILL SOULTS RITES HELD SATURDAY

Services for Mrs. Merrill (Gertrude) Soults of rural Thornburg were conducted Saturday at the Harden Funeral Chapel, What Cheer. Burial was at Sixteen Cemetery.

Mrs. Soults, 65, died Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Mahaska County Hospital, Oskaloosa.

The daughter of J.R. and Eva Beason Steele, she was born at Montezuma June 19, 1903. She had lived at Montezuma and Gibson prior to moving to her present home in 1949. She married Merrill L. Soults, on Aug. 22, 1924 at Oskaloosa.

A member of the United Presbyterian Church at Gibson, she also belonged to the Thornburg Garden Club, Gibson Ladies Aid, Christian Ladies Aid of Thornburg and was the secretary of Sixteen Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Merrill; two sons, Harry of Prairie City and Merrill (Bud) of Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Aredeth) Burke of Davenport and Mrs. Jack (Carrol) Rolow of Ankeny; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Steele of Portland, Ore., and Cliff Steele of Barnes City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
