MR. POHLMAN RITES TODAY
Howard L. Pohlman, 64, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Grinnell, died of a heart attack Monday, Jan. 4, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert C. Smith of the First Baptist Church officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and Pallbearers were Jan Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Robert Dale, Bill Werneburg, Kenneth Jones and Doyle Mikels. Flower bearer was Alice Priest. Burial was at the Masonic-I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montezuma.
The son of Frank C. and Mary Casperson Pohlman, he was born July 9, 1917, at Ida Grove. He spent his early childhood at Spencer, Algona and Eagle Grove before coming to Montezuma at the age of 6. He attended school in Montezuma.
Mr. Pohlman was associated with the former S.W. Inman floor-contracting firm for a number of years. He later worked for the Grinnell Water Department and Grinnell College's Building and Grounds Department. Since his retirement, he had lived with a sister in Arkansas.
Survivors include his three sisters, Margaret Scheetz, Iona Halterman and June Birnbaum, all of Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford and Frank Pohlman; and a sister, Marie Moore.
