ROBERT TRUMAN DEXTER PASSES

Robert Truman Dexter, son of Harry and Margaret Dexter, was born in Chicago, Dec. 7, 1878, and died at his home in Blue Point May 9, 1933, at the age of 54 years, 5 months and two days. When he was fifteen years old the family moved to Hunnewell, Mo. He came to Iowa in 1900 and was united in marriage to Maud M. Wood of Blue Point in 1903. They settled in this place and have lived most of the time since in Blue Point vicinity. To them were born three sons, Ralph L., Glen L., and Elden R.

Robert Dexter, or as he was familiarly known, Bert, was a home loving man, and it was his pleasure to contribute to its welfare. His comfortable farm home and family represented to him the very best there was in life. Friendly and sociable, a helpful neighbor, an honest and industrious citizen, one always ready to lend a helping hand, he will be greatly missed in the community.

The wife and sons will miss the ministrations of a loving husband and father.

It was very fitting that such a one should depart this life from his own doorstep, preparing to go to Grinnell, seemingly in his usual health, he sat down to put on his rubbers. When spoken to by his son who was to accompany him, he received no response, and coming closer to him, was shocked to find that his father had quietly departed, and was no more a partner with them save in memory. He had had several attacks of heart trouble previously.

This was the first death to occur in a family of nine, five brothers and three sisters survive him, Frank of Hunnewell, Mo., Joe and Charles of Grinnell, Walter of Whittier, California, and Merritt of Ackworth, Iowa; Mrs. Edith Long of Paris, Mo., Mrs. Jessie Erwin of Lakenau, Mo., Mrs. Jean Blackford of Shelbina, Mo., and a large number of relatives and friends.

The service was held in First Friends church, conducted by Rev. Robert Lincoln. Three songs were sung by a quartet, Paul and Glen Huff, Donald Schooley and Joseph Haupt, "Going Down the Valley One by One," The Old Rugged Cross" and "Somtime, Somewhere." The pallbearers were Rollo Whitaker, Bert Thompson, Matt Kline, William Beeler, Des Martin, and Fred Adkins. Burial was in Montezuma. The profusion of beautiful flowers was an evidence of the esteem in which the family are held, and they have the sympathy of the community.
