MONTE NATIVES DIE AT MARSHALLTOWN

Funeral services for Dr. F.A. Gordon and his wife, Allene, were held Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, at the Pursell-Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown. They were both Montezuma natives.

The Gordons, both 85, died of smoke inhalation from a fire at their Marshalltown home early Monday morning.

Dr. Gordon, an osteopathic physician at Marshalltown since 1919, had retired last June. He was a 1916 graduate of the American School of Osteopathic Medicine at Kirksville, Mo., and he practiced in Cedar Rapids before entering the Navy in World War I. He was president of the Iowa Society of Osteopathic Physicians in 1936 and president of the American Osteopathic Association in 1940. He served on many professional committees and was a trustee of the Kirksville College of Osteopathy. Mrs. Gordon, the former Allene Anderson, was active in a number of Marshalltown clubs and civic organizations.

The Gordons are survived by two grandsons. Dr. Gordon is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ed (Margaret) McNeil of Montezuma, and a first cousin, Ida Gordon, also of Montezuma. Mrs. Gordon is survived by a brother, Paul H. Anderson of Des Moines, and a first cousin, Alice Underwood of Montezuma.
