GLADYS LAIZURE

Gladys Laizure, 95, of St. Francis Manor in Grinnell died May 13 at Grinnell Hospital. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., May 22, at the Brooklyn Cemetery with the Rev. Lon Lewis, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating.

She was born Feb. 9, 1900 at Brooklyn, to Walter and Clara Willett Fraser. She was reared in Brooklyn and attended Brooklyn public schools. She also attended a business college in Des Moines.

On March 11, 1932, she was married to Loran "Pete" Laizure in Des Moines. The couple lived in Des Moines until May of 1959 when they moved to Mesa, Ariz. While living in Arizona, they operated a gift shop at Apache Junction. In June of 1990, they moved to St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and PEO.

She is survived by one nephew, Walter Ostrom of Wichita Falls, Texas; four nieces, Ruth Scroggs of Des Moines, Rhea Light of Grinnell, Dorothy Channel of Ogden, Utah, and Marjorie Doonan of Maple Grove, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four sisters, Virginia Fraser, Eva Brannian, Florence Ostrom, and Dorothy Fraser.
