OBITUARY

MRS. C.J. CARD

After a protracted illness Mrs. C.J. Card passed away at her home here last Friday afternoon. She was *born at Litchfield, Ohio, and in early childhood moved to Monroe, in this state. She attended college at Indianola but did not graduate. In 1870 she was married to C.J. Card and for the past twenty-three years they have made their home in this city.

Mrs. Card was a woman of unusual charm and refinement. She was of a retiring disposition but this did not prevent others from discovering her true worth. As a result while her health permitted she was constantly called on for duties in conneciton with our community life and always responded to these calls efficiently and generously. She was for years a deaconess in the Congregational church and in the various lines of church activity took a warm interest and a helpful part. She was a member of the W.B.M.I., of the Elizabeth Earle Magoun Club and other local organizations. The ladies of her circle and her neighbors testify to her worth and nobility.

Her husband and two children, F.M. Card and Miss Grace Card of this city, survive her. To her they owe everything that a good Christian home owes to one who does all and more than love and duty demand.

Funeral services were held at the late residence Sunday afternoon at half past two and were conducted by Professor Charles Noble, assisted by the Rev. H.N. Dascomb. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Dungan. The remains were interred in Hazelwood cemetery.
