Mr. Wiley was born near Belfast, Ireland, July 12, 1833. In November, 1848, he came to America, settling first in St. Louis. The next spring he moved to Rock Island, Illinois, and lived there for about twenty-four years. He was married in that city October 27, 1859, to Miss Rachel Ramsey. In April, 1873, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley moved to Scott township, Poweshiek county, and settled on a farm. They continued to live there until 1893, when they retired and moved to Malcom to spend their declining years, and remained there until they both passed away, except two years when Mr. Wiley resided in Grinnell. Mrs. Wiley died November 6, 1915.

Mr. Wiley was quite well known in this city, having lived two years here in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hughes, returning to Malcom last August.

The funeral was held Tuesday. Short services were held at the home at 8:00 a.m., after which interment took place in the Montezuma cemetery.
