AN OBITUARY OF EDWIN W. TWICHELL

Edwin Wesley Twichell was born in Erie County, Pa., on May 18, 1867, and died on Jan. 15, 1932, in the Cook county hospital at Chicago of bronchial pneumonia. On Dec. 8, 1929, Mr. Twichell had a paralytic stroke which left his left side paralyzed and he had been in bed up until his death.

Edwin Twichell was married June 16, 1899, to Miss Mary Fister of Grinnell in what was then known as the Dakota Territory just across the river from Sioux City. Right after marriage they settled in McCook in the Dakotas where they lived until 1904. From there they moved to Grinnell, settling at 511 Fourth Ave. where Mrs. Twichell's mother passed away about one month ago. Since that time up until about six years ago the Twichell family have made their residence in and around Grinnell except for a few years they spent in Kansas and Illinois. While in Grinnell he worked for the old Spaulding Buggy Works for years and then took up farming just one-half mile north of Snow's corner.

In 1926 he moved his family to Chicago where he took a position in the Milwaukee railroad shops, where he worked until he had his stroke in 1929.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Marlas Anderson, Chicago, a step-son, Art Twichell of Chicago, a sister, Mrs. Frances Green of Pensacola Fla., and also two grandchildren, besides numerous other relatives and a host of friends here in Grinnell and also in Chicago.

He has been a member for 30 years of the Modern Woodmen of the World, belonging at the time of his death to the Grinnell camp.
