EVERETT G. WILLIAMSON, 84

Everett G. Williamson, 84, of Belle Plaine and formerly of Hartwick, died on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor with the Rev. Dan Driscoll, pastor of the Evangelical Free Church of Oelwein, officiating. Pianist was Pam Cronbaugh. Casket Bearers were Marty Block, Nick Cronbaugh, Marvin Lynn, Tom Pirkl, Chester Simpson Jr., and Lynn Sleeuwenhoek. Honorary Bearers were Vernard Block, Marvin Schinckel, Mike Verdeck and Dick Wells. Interment was at the Hartwick Union Cemetery near Hartwick.

Should friends desire memorials may be directed to the Hartwick Union Cemetery.

Everett was born on Nov. 21, 1924, on the family farm north of Hartwick. He attended rural school and graduated in 1943, from Hartwick High School, where he participated in basketball and baseball. Everett met Alice Kochuyt at a dance in Chelsea on Valentine's Day in 1947. The couple were married on Aug. 26, 1948, in Victor. They operated a grain and livestock farm east of Hartwick for 55 years. He also was a substitute school bus driver and hauled grain for local farmers.

Everett was a member of the former Hartwick Congregational Church, the Hartwick Union Cemetery Board of Trustees, and he was a former trustee of Jefferson Township. He enjoyed camping, socializing with friends and life on the farm.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Williamson of Belle Plaine; one brother, Donald (Elaine) Williamson of Atkins; and three sisters, Mary Ann Roth of Brooklyn, Irene Criswell of Newton, and Linda Davis of Ladora; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
