MALLIE ADKINS

Mallie Parmley Adkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Parmley, was born May 15, 1876, in Jasper county, Iowa, just west of Grinnell. The days of youth were spent in the vicinity of her birth.

She was united in marriage to E.L. Adkins on October 6, 1897 and they spent the early part of their life together on a farm.

In 1903 they moved into Grinnell, and this has been their home ever since. Mrs. Adkins had suffered poor health for 25 years.

Mrs. Mallie Adkins is survived by her husband, E.L. Adkins, now at Oakdale Sanitorium, one brother, Luther Parmley of Jump River, Wisconsin, two sisters, Mrs. (Linda) Adkins, and Mrs. Fred (Jennie) Chase, both of Grinnell, two half-brothers, Elmer Parmley, Gilman, Iowa, and Jerome Parmley, Grinnell, and several nieces and nephews, and her friends.

After a long illness, she passed away at a Montezuma hospital, February 20, 1957, past 80 years of age.

Funeral services were held at James Funeral Home. Burial was at Hazelwood cemetery.

Rev. C.E. Kingsley officiating, Feb. 23, 1957, at 2 p.m.
