OBITUARY OF CHRIS W. REUTTER

Chris W. Reutter was born to the home of Jacob and Veronica Reutter June 12, 1882, while the family lived in Valley City, North Dakota.

A short time later the family moved to Nebraska, lived for a time in South Dakota, and as a young man Chris came to Iowa where he spent the rest of his life. He was christened in the Lutheran church as a young child. He was one of nine children in a pioneer family, all preceding him with the exception of one sister.

On April 12, 1917, he was united with Gertrude Adkins of Grinnell, and they established their home in South Dakota, then coming to Malcom in 1919 where they lived until retiring from the farm in 1929.

While living in retirement, he was active in the trucking business, a good citizen and neighbor in Grinnell. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge.

Last April he suffered a severe heart attack but recovered sufficiently to be around his home and community until he was stricken suddenly last Wednesday morning, passing away Jan. 27, past 71 years of age.

Surviving him are his wife, his sister, Mrs. Ira Daniels of Colome, S.D., several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
