GERTRUDE REUTTER DIES AT HOSPITAL
Mrs. Gertrude E. Reutter, age 83, the widow of Chris W. Reutter, of 913 Center St., died Sunday afternoon at Grinnell General Hospital East.
The daughter of James Francis and Sidney Jane Parmley Adkins, Mrs. Reutter was born in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County, Iowa on Aug. 8, 1886. On April 12, 1917, she was married to Chris W. Reutter in Grinnell. Mr. Reutter operated a trucking business in Grinnell and preceded her in death on January 27, 1954.
Mrs. Reutter was a member of the First Baptist church and the Isabelle Brande Guild. She also was a Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah's and a member of the M. and M. Club.
Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Henry (Geneva) Ahrens of Rt. 2, Grinnell, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Reutter was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers and three sisters...Will M. Adkins, Robert H. Adkins, Fred M. Adkins, Louis M. Adkins, Mrs. Alice Rice, Mrs. Florence Dearinger, and Mrs. Alta Matteson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home with burial in Hazelwood Cemetery.
