LINDA ADKINS RITES FRIDAY
Linda P. "Tim" Adkins, 90, of Grinnell, the widow of Frederick M. Adkins, died Tuesday morning, Apr. 9, at Friendship Manor.
The daughter of Brack D. and Mary Connelly Parmley, she was born April 20, 1883, in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County. She attended Turner school west of the Turner community.
On Feb. 25, 1903, she was married to Frederick Milton Adkins. The couple had three sons: Kenneth H. Adkins of Rte. 1, Grinnell; Wathal L. Adkins of West Des Moines; and Audrey W. Adkins who died Oot. 30, 1961.
Mrs. Adkins is survived by her two sons, Kenneth and Wathal; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Chase of Grinnell; one half-brother, Jerome Parmley of Rte. 2, Grinnell; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred; five sisters, Lissie Reed, Lizzie Reed, Mallie Adkins, Dillie Parmley and Lucy Butler; five brothers, Arthur, Sam, Olin, Lute and Charlie Parmley; and one half-brother, Elmer Parmley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Adkins will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Apr. 12, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Willard Heffner, and pallbearers will be Larry Adkins, Fred Akdins, Leonard Chase, Thurman Gaskill, Ray Naylor and Hollis Parmley.
Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
