---------

Mr. Luttman Had Been One of Chester's Successful Men--Funeral Was Held Yesterday.

---------

Louis George Luttman was born December 1st, 1869, in Hamilton county, Ohio. He was the son of the late deceased Mr. and Mrs. Henry Luttman, Sr. It was in Ohio where in childhood he received the Holy Sacrament of Baptism and in later years of his youth after due instruction he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. During the spring of 1890 the Luttman family journeyed to Iowa and settled on a farm in Sheridan township of our county. In the year 1892 they moved to Chester Township where larger holdings were secured.

In the year 1906 Louis Luttman was joined in marriage with Anna Siehl of Sheridan township. Their union was blessed with two sons, Elmer and Floyd.

Three years ago last fall Louis began to fail in health, diabetes taking hold of him. He was forced to withdraw from manual labor and was subjected to restricted diet. He traveled to receive help from specialists, and all was done in the power of man to aid him.

To the disappointment of relatives and friends deceased only grew worse until a week before his end he took to the sick bed not to rise again. He remained patient during his illness until he was summoned Friday, March 10, at 2 o'clock p.m. He reached the age of 52 years, 3 months and nine days.

Mr. L. Luttman leaves a host of friends who regret to mourn his loss. The family circle especially deserves our heartfelt sympathy. Deceased was industrious on the farm, affectionate in the home, and a good neighbor.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Anna, and two children, a sister, Mrs. Sophia Schultz, of Malcom, and a brother, Henry Luttman.

Funeral services were rendered by Rev. O.C. Biermann, of the rural Lutheran church at Malcom, on Monday, at the house and at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church at Grinnell.

Songs were sung at the house and at the church by Mrs. T.A. Armstrong, Mrs. M.E. Sears, Mr. Henry Stahl, and Mr. Homer Sears, Mrs. George Hafkey at the piano.

Bearers were Edgar Harris, Louis Hafkey, Fred Puls, Wm. Ahrens, Fred Jantzen, and Henry Oltrogge.

Interment was made at the Grinnell cemetery.
