OBITUARY.

MRS. H.E. VANDERVEER

(Copied from the Sunday State Journal, to the Herald.)

Melissa Jane Beeler, was born on August 25, 1853, near Grinnell, Iowa, and was united in marriage to H.E. Vanderveer on December 4, 1872. During the first eight years of their married life, Mr. and Mrs.Vanderveer lived on a farm near Grinnell. In 1881 they came to Nebraska and settled at Davenport, where they lived until 1900 when they removed to Lincoln. For years Mrs. Vanderveer was a member of the M.E. church, holding her membership in St. Paul during her residence in Lincoln, and was a member of the South Side circle of that church. She passed peacefully away late Friday evening, Feb. 21, 1913, at the home 1345 South twelfth street, after an illness of more than two years.

Mrs. Vanderveer was the mother of five children, three sons and two daughters. She is survived by the husband and two daughters, Mrs. H.F. Bishop, formerly of Lincoln, now of Mission, Texas, and Mrs. Chas. Keefer, of 1929 South Twenty-fourth street, Lincoln, and grand-daughter, Pauline Bishop, of Mission Texas. The oldest daughter, Mrs. Bishop, who was in the city early in January with her mother, was unable to be present at the funeral. Relatives present from out of town were two brothers, Fred and Clem V. Beeler, and a sister, Mrs. John Beeler, and a niece Mrs. E.S. Morrison, all of Grinnell, Iowa. Another sister, Mrs. Mary Garrett, of the same place, was not able to be here. Funeral services were held at the home 1345 South Twelfth Street, at 2 P.M., February 24. Dr. F.S. Stein officiated, part of the text being taken from the fifteenth chapter of I. Corinthians. Mrs. Hummel sang, "Shall We Gather at the River," and "Asleep in Jesus." The pallbearers were Dr. G.O.W. Farnham, P.A. Sommerlad, C.P Hensel, J.H. Violet, S.G. Keefer and T.A. Browne. Interment was in Wynka.
