USEFUL LIFE OF JAMES SPIRE OVER

James Spire was born in Glouscester, England, Sept, 28, 1835 and grew to manhood in his native village. In the year 1875 the family came to the United States, settling in Tama County, where they lived twelve years. They then moved to the farm in Sheridan township, Poweshiek County, where they have lived ever since.

Father adhered to the good practice of holding family worship and to the strict observance of the Sabbath, and it was near Church time on a Sabbath morning that he was called to his reward, aged 91 years, 3 months and 18 days.

Funeral services were held from the Sheridan M.E. Church conducted by Rev. F.A. Moore, a former pastor. Interment was in Sheridan cemetery.
