MARY E. SHULTZ

Mary E. Shultz, 78, of Montezuma died Sunday, Jan. 23, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 26, at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the Rev. Dennis Smith of the Madison Church of Christ officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Bartachek, John Shultz Jr., David Moore, Roy Williams, Robert Grife and Raymond Thompson. Honorary bearers were Matthew Shultz, Curtis Scultz, Thomas Williams, Aaron Shultz, Chancy Grife and Travis Williams.

Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

The daughter of David and Amanda Ammann Richards, she was born March 25, 1915, near Linden. She was married to Donald B. Shultz June 29, 1935, in Montezuma. They lived in Nora Springs before moving to Grinnell in 1946, moving to a farm near Montezuma in 1959. For the past 18 years she had lived at the Montezuma Senior Home. She had been a member of the Friendly Neighbors Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Bartachek of Brooklyn and Rose Mary Shultz of Davenport; one son, John of Montezuma; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Jacobs of Oskaloosa and Lela Burnett of Macon, Mo.; and one brother, David Richards of Cedar.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
