AMANDA RICHARDS LIFE RESIDENT OF MONTEZUMA AREA

Mrs. Amanda Richards, daughter of Michael and Uceila Ammann, was born on a farm Northeast of Montezuma, April 9, 1879, and died Dec. 28. She was 82 years, 8 months and 19 days of age.

In her youth she was united with and baptized in the Fairview church. She was united in marriage with David Richards Aug. 15, 1900. To this union 10 children were born, all of whom survive. Mr. Richards died in December 1945. Much of her married life was spent in the Deep River-What Cheer area.

The children are Viola McMullen, Waterloo; Orville Richards, Morgan City, La.; Hazel Jacobs, University Park; John Richards, Knoxville; Ralph Richards, Rock Falls, Wis.; Mary Shultz, Montezuma; Lela Burnett, Bucklin, Mo.; Glen and Roy Richards, Tucson, Ariz., and David Richards, Oskaloosa. There are 27 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Steffy Funeral Home by Rev. H. Groins, Oskaloosa. Louis Gorsuch played the funeral music and accompanied Homer McDowell who sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Interment was in Jackson township cemetery. Casket bearers were Richard Baird, Bud Baird, Marlin Neitzel, Cecil Neitzel, Gary Richards and John Shultz.
