MARIAN M. SHUEY

Marian M. Shuey, 86, of Grinnell died of Alzheimer's disease Friday, March 8, at the Mayflower Health Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Her body was deeded to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. The Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

The daughter of Ole and Laura Swoboda Molmen, she was born Feb. 18, 1916, in St. Paul, Minn. She later moved to Sheldon and was a 1934 graduate of Sheldon High School.

She moved to Des Moines and attended the American Institute of Business. She was later employed as a secretary in Des Moines. She moved to Pleasanton, Calif. in 1944.

On March 6, 1944, she was married to Willis D. Shuey in Pleasanton. They moved to Grinnell in 1946. Mrs. Shuey was employed as a librarian at Grinnell College from 1965 until her retirement in 1980.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational, the Historical and Literary Club, and Kinship of Grinnell.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet S. Moore of Portland, Ore., and Cindy Cake of San Francisco, two sons, Jim of Rochester, N.Y., and Charles of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two brothers, Melvin Molmen of Mesa, Ariz., and Clarence Molmen of Denton, Texas; three sisters, Elaine Bancroft of Yucaipa, Calif., Shirley Hammer of Roper, N.C., and Jean Poore of Maplewood, Minn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Bill Shuey; and one sister, Lavonne Henderson.
