WILLIS SHUEY

Willis (Bill) Shuey, 80, of 1031 Spring St., Grinnell, died Saturday, Nov. 18, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, with the Rev. David Bowman officiating. Organist was Joyce Wubbels. Pallbearers were Lyman Case, Robert Dale, Allen Latcham, Noel Taylor, Madison Tomfeld and Keith Vosburg. Honorary bearers were Dale Adkins, Earl Blair, Don De Witt and R. Jay Nash.

Graveside rites were conducted by members of the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Masonic and Eastern Star rites were conducted Tuesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home.

The son of James Francis and Emma Jane Wilkinson Shuey, he was born Nov. 4, 1909, at Jefferson where he was raised and attended school. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School and the University of Commerce in Des Moines.

Following his education he worked for various insurance companies in Des Moines. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in the Philippines.

He was married to Marian Molmen in March 1944. Mr. Shuey operated Shuey Insurance Agency in Grinnell from 1946 to 1977. He was married to Margaret E. Mizner Sept. 14, 1971, in Grinnell.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, Order of Eastern Star, Focht-Tennant Post No. 53 of the American Legion, the Royal Arch Masons, and the Hermon Masonic Lodge, which he formerly served as master.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two sons, James F. of Yardley, Pa., and Charles D. of Altadena, Calif.; two daughters, Janet L. Moore of Portland, Ore., and Lucinda Cake of San Francisco, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janet L. Shuey; and a brother, John W.
