George F. Schlue of 1421 Main Sreet passed away Friday afternoon at University Hospitals, Iowa City, where he had been a patient the last six weeks. Mr. Schlue was the son of Frederick and Mary Schlue and was born April 13, 1885, at Blairstown, Iowa.

He was educated in the Blairstown public schools and later attended business college in Des Moines. On March 15, 1911, he was united in marriage to Lilly M. Wilson at Blairstown by the Rev. C.E. Luce. Mr. Schlue opened a clothing store in Postville, Iowa, and later in Grundy Center, where he was in business for 20 years.

At this time Mr. and Mrs. Schlue moved to Grinnell to make their home, and entered into the men's clothing business here. He was prominent in business circles and well known for the part he played in organizing the Rotary Club here in Grinnell as well as in Grundy Center. He was president of both clubs and the first president of the Grinnell Rotary Club.

Mr. Schlue was also a member of the Masonic lodge, Consistory and Shrine, as well as the Order of Eastern Star. After retiring, he took an active interest in managing his farms and particularly was proud of his livestock. His place among businessmen here in Grinnell will be missed by his many friends and neighbors.

Mr. Schlue is survived by his widow, Lilly, and one brother, John of Blairstown, as well as three sisters: Mrs. Emma Sayers and Mrs. Rose Tongue, both of Blairstown, and Mrs. Alma Pierie of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Services for George F. Schlue were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Smith Funeral home with Dr. G.S. Bruland of the Methodist church officiating. Organ music was furnished by Mr. Edward Bohstedt. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Child, A.B. Hamilton, Robert S. Kinsey, Don Louden, Lee Bullock, Erle Barkley, D.M. Reynolds, and E.C. Turner. Pallbearers were Delmar Adkins, Tim Dudden, Orville Garling, Herschel Griffith, Robert Hamilton and Charles Manly.

Flower bearers were Mrs. Carl Child and Mrs. Don Louden. Burial was made in Hazelwood cemetery.
