OBITUARY

John Close was born in the state of Michigan, March 26, 1836, and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.S. Goreham, in Sheridan township, March 23, 1890, at the age of 53 years, 11 mo. and 27 days.

For about a year Mr. Close's health has been failing and he came from his home in Dakota to Iowa, hoping to improve his health by a change of climate, but alas! where he hoped to find improved conditions for health he found the end of life. His last illness was of about eight days duration. He leaves a father, one sister, a wife and five children to mourn his loss.

The funeral took place at his daughter's March 25, conducted by Rev. J.W. Lambert, after which he was interred in the Grinnell cemetery.
