MRS. WILLIAM WISHART

The death angel entered the home of Wm. Wishart last Wednesday and claimed the wife and mother, who for long years had been almost an invalid, and yet who had lived such an earnest Christian life that she was beloved by all who knew her. Mrs. Hannah Murphy Wishart was born in Ireland June 9, 1830, and hence had just passed into her 68th year. In August 1847 she was married to Wm. Wishart. Until 1879, over thirty years, she lived in Scotland, a part of the time in Ayshire. Their son James, before the latter date, had located in Grinnell, and had secured a position in the Header works, under Craver & Steele, for his father as engineer. Mr. and Mrs. Wishart came over the sea in 1879 and here has been their home since. Both made a place for themselves in the affections of a large circle of Grinnell people who mourn the death of a beloved sister. Mrs. Wishart was a member of the Church of England and was a devout Christian. She was the mother of nine children, seven of whom are living, four sons and three daughters. All but James who lives in California were present at the funeral. The sons are George of Chillicothe, Mo., Will of Chicago who was present with his wife, John of Ottumwa, Mrs. C.A. Baker, Mrs. I. Alexander and Mrs. Will Ralf of this place. Peter Rutherford, a grandson, of Des Moines, was also present at the funeral. The funeral was held at the house Friday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Mr. Brande, assisted by G.R. Lockwood. The home was crowded with friends who wished to show their esteem and love. Her three sons and three sons-in-law bore the remains to its last resting place in Hazelwood to await the judgment day.
