AN OBITUARY OF MRS. MARY SCHULTZ

(From the Malcom Leader)

Death once again took its toll from Malcom when Mrs. Mary Schultz passed away Monday morning at 6:30 o'clock at the home of her son, Frank.

Mrs. Schultz while not in the best of health for several years, was able to keep up her home and assume a somewhat active part in church and social circles. However, about two months ago, she was taken so ill that it was necessary to remove her to the home of her son, Frank who resides in the Sheridan neighborhood. Here she was given the best of care and medical attention but for the past two weeks death was evident in spite of all that many administrations that were rendered.

"Aunt Mary" as she was familiarly known, was one of Malcom's best beloved old ladies and her passing will make a loss that is keenly felt by scores of relatives and friends.

She was an ideal neighbor and a true friend, her characteristics were marked by a jolly good-natured disposition and she possessed a decidely interesting personality which made her an excellent companion.

The Presbyterian church was not large enough to acommodate the many friends who gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased, and the large funeral attendance was evidence of the many tributes that have been paid to Mrs. Schultz.

Mary Elizabeth Eisele, daughter of Andrew and Philipina Eisele, was born Nov. 21st, 1860, at Princeton, Bureau County, Ill., and passed away at the home of her son, Frank, age 70 years, 16 days. At the age of 8 years she came with her parents to Poweshiek county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. When 16 years of age she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She remained a member of that church until 1915 when she transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church at Malcom to which church she remained affiliated until her death.

On *October 20th, 1880, she was united in marriage to Gust Schultz, of Sheridan Township, where they resided until 1908 when they moved to Malcom. To this union was born one son, Frank, who resides on the old home place.

She was an active member of the Thimble Society, Rebekah Lodge and Eastern Star of Malcom as her strength permitted. Six weeks ago her health failing she came to the old home where she was tenderly cared for by loved ones. Her son, Frank, was not able to be with her. Because of his illness he is at the hospital at Grinnell.

She was a devout member of her church and her belief and faith in her Lord in time of trouble or distress was almost Divine.

"Beautiful toiler, thy work is done
Beautiful soul unto Glory gone."

She leaves to mourn her loss one son, Frank, of Malcom, a granddaughter, Esther Mathews, of Ottumwa, a sister, Mrs. Fred Schultz of Malcom, a brother, Wm. Eisele of Earlham, and a host of relatives and friends. Her husband, a sister, Philipina Baustian, and brothers, Joe, Charles and Jack, preceded her to that Home of Rest.

"Sleep well, dear one; beloved of
Christ and crowned,
God gives thee sleep.
Her angels smile; her stricken family weep,
Yet smiles nor tears shall break the blessed sleep."

The Reverend Mr. Holler of Brooklyn had charge of the services in the Malcom church Tuesday, morning.
