MR. BARNHOUSE SERVICES HELD

Harold K. Barnhouse, 64, of 822 Park St., Grinnell, died Sunday, Aug. 30, at Marshalltown Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Wallace, pastor of the Newburg-Chester Parish of the United Congregational Church, officiating. Organist was Alice Renaud, and pallbearers were Jerry McGinnis, Jack McGinnis, Dean Clark, Dick Clark, Loren Innis and Arthur Diehm.

Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. at McCune Cemetery near Hartford, Mo. Memorials in Mr. Barnhouse's name may be left at the Smith Funeral Home.

The son of Claude and Mabel Carpenter Barnhouse, he was born on Jan. 28, 1923, near Livonia, Mo. He attended rural school. He lived on the family farm until 1945 when he came to Grinnell. In 1951, he went to St. Louis, Mo., and worked as a truck driver until 1959 when he began farming near Columbia, Mo. He returned to Grinnell in 1973 and was employed as bartender at Duffy's tavern.

Mr. Barnhouse is survived by a son, Wendell of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Linda Sue Barnhouse of Unionville, Mo.; and a sister, Mildred Wagener of Citrus Heights, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia Ann; and sister, Doris Lucille in infancy.
