MRS. CROWNSEA RITES TUESDAY

Mrs. Josephine Crownsea, 90, a lifelong resident of the Grinnell community, passed away Sunday morning at the Happy Hour Nursing Home, following an extended illness.

The daughter of Morton and Druzilla Jenkins Faircloth, she was born Feb. 9, 1877, near Grinnell, and she received her education in the schools of this community.

She was united in marriage to Nels P. Crownsea on Aug. 24, 1897, at Newton. Following their marriage they farmed near Grinnell. They also lived in Kellogg for a few years and operated a restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1951, and her son Carrol in *1939.

She is survived by her nieces, Mrs. Carl Olson of Grinnell, Mrs. Adolph Ebert of Kellogg, Gertrude Faircloth of Kellogg, Mrs. Arthur Olson of Grinnell, Mrs. Shelby Cooper of Grinnell, Mrs. Ruth Murphy of Newton, and Mrs. Roy Carter of Grinnell; her nephews, Hollis Benson of Kellogg, Ralph Faircloth of Marshalltown, Arthur Faircloth of Melbourne, and Dallas Dwier.

Funeral services for Mrs. Crownsea will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Shireman will officiate, and interment will be in Our Silent City Cemetery at Kellogg.
