CHARLES ARNAMAN DIES AT 81
Services for Charles L. Arnaman, of rural Montezuma, were held Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 2, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Officiating at the rites were the Reverends Martin Gruneich of Montezuma and Darwin Van Dyne of Fairfield. Vocalists were Darwin and Marilyn Van Dyne accompanied by Mrs. Rebecca Wiley, organist.
Pallbearers were Bennett Goeke, Randall Goeke, Terrell Goeke, Billy Dan Halley, Edward Hatcher, Edward Holland and Mark Wiley. Burial was at Pleasant Township Cemetery at Ewart.
Mr. Arnaman died Sunday, Dec. 30, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. He was 81 years old.
The son of Daniel and Josephine Jones Arnaman, he was born Jan. 22, 1898, at Unionville, Mo. After graduation from high school there he worked in Nebraska and central Iowa. On June 14, 1922, he was married to Grace McConnell at her parents' farm home near Ewart. The couple spent their entire married life farming in this area. He was a member of the Ewart United Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his children, Ronald C. Arnaman of rural Grinnell and Mrs. Annagrace Goeke of Washington; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Martin of Seattle, Wash.; and a brother, Pearl R. Arnaman of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, his parents, two sisters and a brother.
