FRIDAY SERVICES SET HERE FOR SAMUEL KINGSLEY

Samuel John Kingsley, 87, of 927 High Street, died late Monday afternoon at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the First Baptist church with the Rev. Wayne Shireman, pastor of the church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Carl E. Kingsley of Valley Forge, Pa. Vocalists will be Mrs. Donovan Evans and Mrs. LaForrest Sherman, accompanied by Edward H. Bohstedt at the organ.

Pallbearers will be Leonard H. Evans, W.G. Greenwald, J.C. Parrott, Raymond Pilgrim, Laverne Raffety and Willard Wells. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to th First Baptist church.

He was the son of Fredrick William and Mary Ann Beatty Kingsley and was born at Cascade, Iowa, on July 21st, 1878. He attended the public schools near the family home and later attended Wisconsin State Agriculture College.

On Oct. 28th, 1908, he was married to Nellie Goudie at Bedford, Iowa. To this union were born six children, five whom survive: the Rev. Carl Edwin Kingsley of Valley Forge, Pa.; Miss Mary Emma Kingsley of the family home here; Mrs. Everett (Mildred May) Ilk of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. James (Nellie Irene) McPherson of Moab, Utah; and Mrs. Monte (Pearl Leone) Payne of Westport, Wash.

In *1972, Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley moved to Colorado and in 1943 they moved to the west coast to make their home. They moved to Grinnell in 1952.

Mr. Kingsley was a member of the Farm Bureau and had been a member of the Bedford, Iowa, school board for some time. He was a lifelong member of the Baptist church and had served in many capacities as a lay leader in his church. Upon moving to Grinnell, he became a member of the First Baptist church.

Preceding him in death were his father in 1931; his mother in 1950; an infant daughter, Ruth, in 1909; and a sister, Alice Kingsley in 1907.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie, at the family home; his five children; and five grandchildren, Lloyd and John Ilk, both of Denver, Colo., Jan McPherson of Moab, Utah, Mrs. Karla Huck of Fond du Lac, Wisc., and Mrs. Ruby Panetti of Milwaukee, Wis. Also surviving are a great grandson, James Kingsley Panetti; a brother, David J. Kingsley of Bedford; and several cousins.
