MRS. MILO (SUSANNAH ROBERTSON) MORGAN

Mrs. Milo Morgan died at her home at 309 south Broad Street, Grinnell, Iowa, February 20, 1911.

She was born in Onieda County, New York, July 13, 1833. Moved to Columbus, Ohio, when seven years of age, lived there and in Columbus until her eithteenth birthday. While here she was converted and joined the Methodist Church and never lost faith in her Savior. Her daily life showed her Christian character.

She moved from Columbus to Lincoln Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa in July 1852.

July 31st 1856 she was married to Milo Morgan and moved to a little house which she made a home out on the prairie where many bright, happy, carefree days were spent, until the terrible war marred their happiness and she was left with her little ones, one of the many Soldier women braving the hardships that only the old pioneers can realize.

In 1869 they moved to Washington township, where they resided about 24 years. Then they moved to Grinnell, Iowa, where they built the home where they have since lived.

For several months her strength has been failing and since Christmas she has suffered intense pain with out a word of complaint. She was confined to her bed a great deal of the time but at the last she quietly fell asleep.

She was one who was always ready to care for the sick and needy and was never satisfied to be idle but was always busy whenever she had the strength to work.

The funeral was held at the home conducted by the Rev. Elias Handy, Wednesday, February 22, 1911, and the remains interred in Hazelwood cemetery.

She was the mother of ten children, Albion J. Morgan of Stewart, Iowa, Mrs. Eleanor Champlin of Grinnell, Iowa. John D. Morgan who made his home with his father and mother and who was faithful and devoted caring for them during her last illness, Horace W. Morgan, of Marshalltown, Mrs Mary J. Buskirk of Elmwood, Neb., Mrs. Maggie Tish of Jacobs, Iowa, Mrs. Minnie Reavis of Grinnell, Iowa, Charles H. Morgan, living about 5 miles west of Grinnell; Mrs Belle Buskirk of Grinnell.

One son, Wm. Garrett Morgan died in Nebraska, September 8, 1888.

The husband, nine children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, with many neighbors and friends were present at the funeral and are left to mourn the loss of a loved one.

Friends from a distance to attend the funeral were; Horace Robertson, of West Branch, brother of Mrs. Morgan, the only one left of a large family of children, Ryan Morgan and wife, A. O. Morgan, O. Quaitense, Mrs. Dora Burdine, of Montezuma, Mrs. Ida Cranston, Clint Cranston, of Deep River, Norman Morgan, Mrs. Maggie Atherton, of Guernsey, Mrs. Ella Burdine, of Keswick, Iowa, Fred Wells of Ewert, Iowa, Mrs. Tama Simpson of Monroe, Iowa, Gilbert Morgan of Crocker, Iowa, Mrs. Ada Russell and Winfred, of Stewart, Iowa, A. J. Morgan and wife and Cora of Stewart, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Morgan and child of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews and baby of Montezuma, Iowa, Mrs. Charles Graham and three children of Gibson, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Buskirk of Elmwood, Nebraska.
