HEINRICH STEFFEN

Heinrich Steffen, 84, of Malcom died Friday, Jan. 19, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The son of Karl Heinrich and Augusta Karsten Steffen, he was born Sept. 11, 1905. He was married to Wilma Laticia Howell Aug. 16, 1948, at her family home in Lynnville. The couple farmed near Malcom until 1970 when they moved into Malcom.

For a number of years, Mr. Steffen was groundskeeper at Ivy Hill Cemetery. He was a member of the Poweshiek County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are a daughter, Ada Marie Davis of Albion; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Elsie Graham of Prairie City and Erna Strong of Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma; one son, Marvin H.; five brothers, Melvin, Alfred, Arnold, Otto and Harold; and three sisters, Alma Luecht and, in infancy, Wanda and his twin, Lucia.
