G.W. KIERULFF, PIONEER OF COUNTY, DIES IN MONTEZUMA

After an illness of many months, G.W.Kierulff, one of the best known residents of Montezuma, passed away at his home there on Wednesday morning, aged 82 years. The funeral services were held from the home yesterday afternoon. Mr. Kierulff came to the county in 1857, purchasing a half section of land where the town of Ewart is now located. In 1869 he was elected county treasurer and filled the office for three consecutive terms. After his retirement from this office he and John Hall, Sr., engaged in the banking business and later organized the First National Bank of Montezuma, of which Mr. Kierulff was for many years cashier. Mr. Kierulff was married at Selma, Alabama, to Miss Fannie B. Harralson. His wife and three children survive. The daughter, Mrs. Adolph Shane, has been at home several weeks helping to care for her father. Dr. George B. Kierulff, one son, is located at Melbourne, Kas., and the youngest son, Karl, is a civil engineer in the government service and at present is in California.
