MRS. ELSIE HUNTER DIED ON SUNDAY EVE; FUNERAL TUESDAY

Mrs. Elsie Harriet Hunter, wife of Allen Hunter, of 515 Main street, passed away Sunday evening in a local hospital, aged 67 years, 4 months and 27 days, following a serious operation. She had been a resident of Grinnell for 51 years.

Mrs. Hunter was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Becks Hurdle and was born in Newburg August 23, 1884. She attended the Newburg schools and was married on March 21, 1900 to D.A. Barns, who died in 1910. On August 23, 1914, she married Allen Hunter, who survives her. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Esta A. German of Newton, Mrs. Mary C. Swab of Marshalltown and Betty Jean Hunter at home, also by one brother, M.J. Hurdle of Kellogg.

Funeral services in charge of Rev. W.F. Overhulser will be held at 2 p.m. Tues. in the Smith funeral home. Music will be provided by Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers will be Gaylord Bowen, Paul Meyers, Vern Millgate, Warren Miller, Fred Schrader, and John Talbott, all with the Iowa Southern Utilities company, where Mr. Hunter is employed.
