MRS. CHARLES E. BOSSLER

Emma L. Judd, daughter of Eli P. Judd, was born November 2nd, 1847, on the old farm near Princeton, Bureau county, Illinois, where she grew up to womanhood, and in 1867 was married to Crawford I. Searl of a nearby neighborhood.

The spring following they came to Poweshiek county, Iowa, and were engaged in farming in the vicinity of Brooklyn and Malcom for a number of years, when finally they moved into Malcom and Mr. Searl became interested in and conducted a drug store for a short time but soon disposed of it.

Three children were born, two dying in infancy and one, Frank, passing away at the age of 14.

In the year 1890 Mrs. Searl was united in marriage to Charles E. Bossler of this vicinity, and immediately moved onto their farm six miles north of Malcom where she continued to live until her death--she and her husband striving together until theirs is one of the most attractive homes of that vicinity.

Mrs. Bossler became a member of the Presbyterian church in early life, and did much in her stronger days to further the church influence in many ways. Her health had been failing her for a number of years, and about the middle of January she received a slight stroke of paralysis which together with other complications brought about the end.

Mrs. Bossler leaves to mourn her death a very kind and indulgent husband, three sisters: Mrs. J.D. Carpenter, Mrs. Jacob Teraberry of this vicinity, and Mrs. J.W. McDowell, of Eustis, Florida, and two brothers, Douglas E. and Mark L. Judd, of this vicinity, as well as many friends and relatives whose acquaintance extends back for more than a half century.--Malcom Leader.
