MARY STEWART DIES AT 66

Mrs. Mary Stewart, a former Grinnell resident, died in Des Moines Saturday, Oct. 27. She was 66.

The daughter of Clinton and Emma Berriman VanderVeer, she was born Jan. 2, 1906, in Grinnell. She was married to Joel M. Stewart July 25, 1931. The couple had one son, Robert. They made their home in California for a number of years.

Mrs. Stewart returned to Grinnell in 1961 to care for her mother. She was employed by Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company.

For the past several years she had made her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Ross of Des Moines and Lake Okoboji. Mrs. Stewart had been in failing health the past year.

Survivors include her son, Robert; three grandsons; her sister, Mrs. Alta Ross of Des Moines; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Chester and Earl VanderVeer.
