MONICA C. JARBOE

Monica C. Jarboe, 81, of La Crescenta, Calif., and formerly of Grinnell died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in California.

A funeral mass for Monica Jarboe will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell with the Rev. William Reynolds officiating. Organist will be Marilyn Kriegel. Choir music will be performed by members of the Dayton family. Pallbearers will include John Noble, Trevor Linn, Michael and David Jarboe, Eric Berger and Timothy Thompson. Honorary bearer will be Jeff Linn. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

A scripture service is scheduled for tonight (Monday) at 7:30 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home.

Born Dec. 26, 1925, in Guernsey, she was the daughter of Patrick and Susannah Hauersperger Gallagher. She graduated from Brooklyn High School.

She married John E. Jarboe on Feb. 20, 1946, in Brooklyn. The couple lived in Grinnell; they moved to California in 1957. She was a buyer for Ivers Department Store in La Canada, Calif.

She was an active member of St. James the Less Catholic Church in La Crescenta and the Los Angeles Dodgers Booster club.

She is survived by three children, Shirley Noble, Patrick Jarboe and Susan Linn, all of La Crescenta; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Gallagher of Sylmar, Calif.; and two sisters, Leota Schwers of Hiawatha and Agnes Irving of Sandpoint, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law; and two brothers, Frances and Raphael Gallagher.
