MRS. THOMPSON SERVICES

Alta Mae Thompson, 75, of New Sharon died Tuesday morning at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon, with the Rev. Scott Woodworth of the New Sharon United Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Rodney Thompson, Tommy Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Roger Thompson, Dana Wallace, and Vern Bryan. Flower attendants were Susan Bryan, Shari Thompson, Sherry Wallace, Debbi Olson, and Patty Thompson.

Burial will be at the New Sharon Friends Cemetery.

The daughter of William and Jane McQuoid McLain, she was born Sept. 25, 1901, in Grinnell. She was married to Fred Thompson on Aug. 14, 1920, in Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Max E. Thompson of Oakland Acres and Gerald W. Thompson of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Hugh McLain of Newton and John McLain of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, two sisters, and one granddaughter.
