FRIDAY FUNERAL RITES HERE FOR MRS. MOSE JACOB

Mrs. Gertrude Jacob, 85, widow of Mose Jacob, died early Wednesday morning at a Grinnell nursing home where she had made her home for the past two years. She had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester E. Custer, pastor of the Grinnell Methodist church, officiating. Vocal music will be provided by Mrs. Nellie Farley and Mrs. Virgil Sherwood, accompanied by Mrs. Rhee Auman at the organ.

In charge of flowers will be Mr. and Mrs. Will Jeffrey. Pallbearers will be Jack Opdahl, Frank Zimmerman, Dave Mallory, Fred Parker, Melvin Hohl, and Fay Wasson. Burial will be in Pleasant Township cemetery at Ewart.

The daughter of Benjamin Newton and Sally Freeman Wasson, she was born at Ewart on July 25, 1877. She attended the rural schools near Ewart and on Jan. 23, 1895, was united in marriage with Mose Jacob.

To this union were born three daughters: Mrs. Thomas (Irma) Jeffrey of Grinnell, Mrs. Harold (Jessie) Gerard of Grinnell, and Mrs. Ernest Opdahl of Des Moines. In addition to her daughters, Mrs. Jacob is survived by six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one brother, Gus Wasson of Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mose in 1944, and one brother, Guy Wasson, on Nov. 6, 1958.

Mrs. Jacob was a Grinnell resident for 20 years, having moved here after residing at Barnes City and Ewart. She was a member of the Ewart Methodist church and had belonged to the Methodist Ladies Aid when she was active.
