FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GUS WASSON HELD SUNDAY

The funeral of Gus E. Wasson was held Sunday afternoon at the Steffy Funeral Home with the service conducted by the Rev. G.R. Dieken. Organ music was provided by Miss Alice Underwood.

Interment was in Ewart Cemetery with Ed Fisher, Ralph Wells, Glenn Bryan, Robert Grimes, Louis Schoales and James McCormick serving as casket bearers.

Gus Everett, son of Sally Freeman Wasson and Benjamin Newton Wasson, was born in Ewart, Iowa, on Sept. 13, 1882, and died at the University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, on Thursday, Oct. 21. He was 83 years old.

On Oct.4, 1905, he was married to Sadie Hamilton of Ewart. They made their home in Ewart until 1936 when they moved to Montezuma. Mr. Wasson was a grocery merchant before he retired.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church at Ewart and the Knights of Pythias Lodge of Montezuma.

Mr. Wasson was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Jacobs; and one brother, Guy Wasson, both of Grinnell.

He is survived by his wife and their two children; a daughter, Mrs. Clell (Marjorie) Van Deventer of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a son, Fay Wasson, of Montezuma; and four grandchildren, Carol, James, Mary and Lynne Van Deventer.
