The Grinnell (IA) Herald; May 26, 1914

MRS. B.N. WASSON

Sarah Margaret Freeman was born in Crawfordsville, Ind., on Nov. 19, 1851, and departed this life on May 20, 1914, being 63 years, 6 months and one day of age.

On July 3, 1875, she was united in marriage to B.N. Wasson, of Montezuma, Iowa. To this union were born three children, Gertrude, Gus and Guy. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, the three children, four granddaughters, a brother in Illinois, and a sister in Indiana.

About four weeks ago she was taken to Rochester, Minn., but her condition was such that doctors could do nothing. She was then brought to the Grinnell hospital and there departed her life. All was done for her that loving hands could do, but it was to no avail. Her suffering was long and intense yet not a murmur escaped her lips and she was very appreciative of every act of kindness shown her. Her faith in Christ never wavered, but grew more triumphant. Before going to Rochester she was talking to her eldest grand-daughter and her words were "pray for me, dear, that I may get well and if I don't come back, I want you all to meet me in heaven."

Mrs. Wasson was a member of the Christian church and was a devoted Christian during her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but "She is not dead but sleepeth." "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord from henceforth; yea saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them."

The funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church at Ewart, May 22, conducted by Rev. T.A. McKernon, assisted by Rev. Johnson, of the M.E. church.

A select choir with Miss Morrison presiding at the organ gave several selections. The sermon was based on the text: John 11:28: "The Master is come and calleth for thee." The rostrum was draped with bouquets and potted plants, while wreaths of beautiful flowers, sent by many friends, covered the casket. The house was well filled with a sympathetic audience, and a large concourse of people formed a procession to Clover Hill Cemetery where interment was made.

Much sympathy is felt for Mr. Wasson and family by the entire community.

CARD OF THANKS.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the kind friends and neighbors for their sympathy, kind deeds and beautiful flowers given her during the long sickness and death of our beloved wife and mother.
