FLOYD C. DURR

Floyd Cyrus Durr, 80, of Rte. 3, Grinnell, died Monday, Dec. 31, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glenn H. Hulsebus, retired pastor of the Ewart United Prebyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler, and pallbearers were Michelle Calhoun; Boyd, Brenda, Eric, Tracy, Lindsay, Scott, Jody, Karen and Bret Durr; and Laura, Amy and Carrie Kepler.

Burial was in Pleasant Township Cemetery.

The son of Clarence and Mamie Colhard Durr, he was born March 14, 1910, in Poweshiek County. He spent his childhood in Idaho and California before returning to Poweshiek County in 1924 where he attended school in the Westfield community.

Following his education he farmed with his father. He was married to Dena Sophia Rasmussen Feb. 3, 1940, in Memphis, Mo. The couple continued farming near Ewart until retiring in 1983.

Mr. Durr was a member and trustee of the Ewart Presbyterian Church, the Farm Bureau, Chester Royal Grange, Hermon Masonic Lodge No. 273, and Grinnell Lodge No. 358, International Order of Odd Fellows.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Marie Durr of Dhahran, Saudia Arabia, and Helen Kepler of Huxley; three sons, Thomas of Colo., Charles of Grinnell and James of Baxter; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Evelyn Kingma, Verna Shepherd and Grace Durr.

Memorials may be made to Camp Sunnyside.
