DOROTHY VAN ERSVELDE
Dorothy Van Ersvelde, 65, of Brooklyn died Tuesday, June 4, at Grinnell General Hospital.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Joe Rogers officiating. Music was provided by Angie Hawkins and the choir of St. Patrick's. Pallbearers were Matt, Neal and Jeff Van Ersvelde, Donald and Lee Berry, and Mike Henry. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
The daughter of Joseph and Sylvia Dorothea Hink Berry, she was born June 8, 1925, near Brooklyn. She was a 1942 graduate of Brooklyn High School and had lived most of her life in the Brooklyn area. She was married to John Van Ersvelde Feb. 19, 1946, in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Van Ersvelde was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Larry of Grinnell and Bill of Belle Plaine; two daughters, Linda Heishman of Malcom and Carol Rice of Des Moines; three brothers, Clyde Berry of Winterset, Lyle Berry of Montezuma and Joe Berry of San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Grace Kinnaird.
