WILLIE B. NUTTING, VETERAN RURAL MAIL CARRIER, DIES
Willie Benjamin Nutting, son of Daniel Webster Nutting and his wife, Ellen nee Gray, was born October 3, 1874, on a farm near Malcom. October 13, 1912, Mr. Nutting was united in marriage with Miss Myrtle Hays at Moline, Ill., and to this union were born one daughter and two sons.
His early life was spent on a farm in the Malcom neighborhood. From 1913 until 1939 he served as a rural mail-carrier out of Grinnell, retiring about three years ago, his wife having preceded him in death, October 24, 1918.
The deceased leaves to mourn his death, his three children, Mildred of Grinnell, Donald, a teacher in the Cedar Falls high school, and Paul, who is at the present time training at the Aberdeen Officers' Candidate School, also one grand-daughter, Barbara Jo Nutting, two brothers, Albert and Fred Nutting of Grinnnell, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Neville of Malcom, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Nutting had been in failing health for the past few years, but it was not until last August after having undergone a major operation that his health began to fail visibly. And for the past few months his strength began to fail rapidly until he died shortly before seven o'clock, Monday evening, May 24, having reached the age of 68 years, 7 months, and 21 days.
Burial was made in Hazelwood cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Niederwimmer in charge of the services.
