GERARDS ATTEND RITES FOR KIN KILLED MONDAY

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gerard, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gerard and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Gerard were in Oskaloosa Thursday afternoon attending funeral services for Max Gerard, 30, killed Monday afternoon in a coal mining accident. The deceased man was a nephew of Charles Gerard. The accident occurred when Mr. Gerard, a drag-line operator, was struck by the bucket of a drag line as he worked in the pit of the Patik Coal company, one mile south of Beacon near Oskaloosa. He is survived by a wife and two small children.
