RAE ANN LEWIS

Rae Ann Lewis, 61, of Grinnell died of a heart ailment Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at her home.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville. Memorials may be sent to the Iowa Heart Association.

She was born May 17, 1941, in Grinnell to Clair and Izola Coburn Royce. She was raised in Kellogg and attended Kellogg public schools until they were consolidated with the Newton school system. She graduated from Newton High School in 1959. She was married Jan. 11, 1962 at Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach, Fla., to Robert W. Lewis and they resided in several locations throughout his years of service with the United States Air Force.

Following his discharge they made their home in Phoenix, Ariz., during which time she was a commercial artist for 10 years with American Advertising Distributors. They moved to an acreage near Lynnville in 1990, then to Grinnell in 1999 in consideration of health conditions.

She was considered a witty person with a strong feeling in which she sometimes carried her honesty to a fault.

She is survived by her husband Robert, Grinnell, and two sisters Linda Graham of East Dubuque, Ill., and Lorene Snook, Boynton Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by her son Michael, both her parents and one sister Rebecca Ridout.
