AN OBITUARY OF MRS. GRACE FETZER

Grace Lucille Fetzer, the only child of Ed and Mary Tuttle, was born in Kewanee, Ill., July 13, 1904, and departed this life Sept. 22, 1931, at the age of 27 years, 2 months and 9 days. Her parents moved to Madison township in 1907. It was here she first started to school and Sunday school. Then they moved to Brooklyn in 1914. Here she spent her girlhood days, attending the schools and graduating with high honors with the class of 1923.

She was a faithful attendant of the Presbyterian church, was baptized in 1920, and was an active member, both of Sunday school and Christian Endeavor. She was also a loyal member of the Royal Neighbors for ten years.

On Oct. 15, 1925, she was united in marriage to Harold G. Fetzer. To this union were born two children, Charles Edward, age 5, Phyllis Irene, age 3, who will miss their mother's tender care.

In 1928 they moved to Grinnell to make their home, where Harold has been a faithful employee of the State Highway Commission. It was here that Grace made many new friends with her loving disposition and winning smile, her readiness to help anyone in the time of need. She was always the same to every one and wherever you met her. She was a true wife and mother, always planning the future of her children. She will be greatly missed in her own home as well as that of her father and mother, to whom she was devoted.

On Sept. 6 she was taken ill and after about two weeks of patient suffering passed to her home above. Short services were held at her home in Grinnell by Rev. W.J. Stewart, and then at Brooklyn Rev. E.W.F. Holler conducted a very impressive service.

The three songs, "The City Four Square," "Just When We Need You Most," and "Abide With Me," beautifully rendered by John Talbott, Beryl Green, Mae Armstrong and W. Calderwood. At her home M.M. Gregson, Frank Knight, Arthur Robison and Will Nelson acted as pallbearers; at Brooklyn six boys, members of the high school class, Patrick Calderwood, Percy Ostrom, Clyde Irwin, Arlie Landtiser, Clarence Bickford and Harold McMullen.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Charles, Phyllis, father and mother, many other relatives, and a host of friends who gathered to pay their last respects. There were many beautiful floral offerings which spoke of the high esteem in which Grace was held.

Those from a distance were Mrs. Edward Fetzer of Marengo, Mrs. Marie Lamb, James Willetts, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Willetts and son, Mrs. Elsie Oliver and son of Kewanee, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Walter of Williamsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fetzer of Ladora, Mervin Fetzer and Melba Gahring, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Gahring of Marengo, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fetzer, Mrs. Elizabeth Stoles of Williamsburg, Mr. and Mrs. George Bean, Marengo.
